(Pragmatics of Linguistic etiquette In the interpretation of Ruh al-Ma’ani by Abu al-Thana’ al-Alusi (d. 1270 AH

Abstract

This research aims to clarify the impact of Linguistic etiquette in interpreting the spirit of meanings by Abu al-Thanaa al-Alusi, and it proceeds to achieve its goal in two directions: the first is concerned with defining the term etiquette, and revealing its value lexically, grammatically, and pragmatically، The second takes the outcome of the first path as a way to consider Al-Alusi’s interpretation, and seeks to confirm the centrality of linguistic etiquette to him in accepting or rejecting interpretive opinions, as a premise of the interpretation of the Holy Qur’an. However, the research does not want to prove that Al-Alusi made the interpretation of the Holy Qur’an based on (abstract) etiquette.  He abandoned the rules of Arabic speech and its meanings. Rather, he wanted to conclude that  Al-Alusi's etiquette determines the meaning according to the standards and limits of science, away from imagination. He represents the summary of looking at Arabic, testing its rules and uses, applying them in interpreting Quranic discourse, and evaluating interpretive opinions.
