Developing a Guidance Program to Enhance the Concept of Environment in Kindergarten Children

Abstract

     The necessity of developing an individual's understanding of the environment arises from environmental education. This involves disseminating relevant information، raising awareness of environmental problems، and advocating for the sound and sustainable use of resources. These resources and their use are subject to problems created by humans themselves. Therefore، it is essential to protect the environment from these very problems، which necessitates cultivating an understanding of the environment. The early years of a child's life are a crucial stage in shaping the main features of their personality. During this period، abilities، inclinations، skills، and aptitudes are formed، and the outlines of their future are drawn. Thus، early experiences play a significant role in human development، comparable to the role of heredity. This prompted the researcher to develop a guidance program for kindergarten children to cultivate an understanding of the environment، instilling in them a love for the environment، a desire to protect it، and an awareness of its details and types. The research problem can be summarized as follows: Developing a guidance program to cultivate an understanding of the environment in kindergarten children. To achieve this، the researcher developed a guidance program according to the following steps: Defining the overall objective of the program. 2- Defining behavioral goals 3- Defining the content of the guidance program 4- Implementing the content of the guidance program sessions The guidance program includes (10) guidance sessions. The session may consist of (the title of the session، the general goal، the behavioral goal، the specific goal، the tools used in the sessions، the time and place of implementation of the sessions، reinforcement and evaluation Environmental Concept Guidance Program for Kindergarten Children).
