Imamia Shiea Scholars in the Islamic East and their Scientific Effects 132-656 AH / 749-1258 AD (Qum City as a Model

Abstract

Qum city is one of the areas in the East of the Islamic Caliphate. It is inhabited by many Shiea families and scholars who played a major role in spreading the sciences of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in Qum and other neighboring countries. What makes the scientific movement flourished more is that the stories about the pure Imams (peace be upon them) regarding the greatness and honor of Qum. This view makes Qum a safe corner for Ahl al-Bayt jurists (peace be upon them) after facing various forms of cruelty and terror from the Banu al-Abbas who mistreated them. Additionally, being under the government of Al Buyah princes for the period 334-447AH, who are Shiea and have tendency and loyalty to the people of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), all of this made the city of Qum a great center for jurisprudence.

This paper includes an introduction, two sections, and a conclusion. In the first section, we touch on Qum city: its location, the date of its establishment and the spread of Shieasm in it. As for the second section, it focuses on the most famous Shiea scholars in Qum city and their scientific effects. Finally the conclusion records the most important results of the research.
