Listening to Al-Baja’i and Al-Tilimsani in their commentary on the Budget study Lamiyat Al-Af’al

Abstract

This study examines one of the most important principles of grammatical art, namely listening to the Lamiyat al-Af'al (Lamiyat al-Af'al), and compares two important commentators on the Lamiyat al-Af'al, namely al-Baja'i (d. 744 AH) and al-Tilimsani (d. 871 AH). It examines the evidence they relied on for listening to the Lamiyat al-Af'al. This evidence is divided between citations from the Holy Qur'an, the Prophetic Hadith, and the poetry and prose of the Arabs. The study follows a descriptive and analytical approach to identify points of similarity and difference between the two commentators, and each of their approaches to utilizing evidence of the art.
