The effect of the flower chart strategy on spelling achievement among second-grade intermediate students

Abstract

This research aims to identify (the effect of the Flower Chart strategy on spelling achievement among second-year intermediate students).The researcher employed an experimental design to determine the impact of the Flower Chart strategy on spelling achievement among second-year intermediate students. A quasi-experimental design with two groups (experimental and control) and a post-test was used. Before the experiment, the researcher statistically ensured the equivalence of the two groups in certain variables (chronological age, parental educational attainment, and first-semester grades). The experiment was conducted in the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year on a sample of 70 second-year intermediate students from Nidaa Al-Salam Intermediate School for Boys, affiliated with the Baghdad/Rusafa II Education Directorate. The sample was purposively selected from the research population. Using a simple random sampling method, Section (B) represented the experimental group with (35) students, and Section (A) represented the control group with (35) students. To achieve the research objective, the researcher prepared a test to measure the spelling achievement of the students in the two research groups. It was a multiple-choice test that included (20) items distributed over the three spelling topics. The researcher confirmed the validity and reliability of the test. post-test achievement, The researcher recommended several measures, including: emphasizing the need for teachers to stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and techniques in teaching dictation. He also suggested conducting similar studies to determine the impact of this strategy on the dictation skills of students in other grade levels.
