Agentic thinking and and Its Relationship to Mental Toughness Among University Students

The current research aims to identify:
- Agentic thinking among university students.
- Mental Toughness among university students.
-The correlational relationship between Agentic thinking and Mental Toughness among university students.
-Differences in the correlational relationship between Agentic thinking and Mental Toughness according to the variables of gender (male, female) and specialization (scientific, humanistic).
-The extent of Agentic thinking’s contribution to Mental Toughness among university students.
The research sample consisted of (300) male and female students from the University of Wasit / College of Basic Education for the academic year (2025–2026). To achieve the research objectives, the researcher developed a Agentic Thinking Scale comprising (15) items, and a Mental Toughness Scale comprising (12) items, following the extraction of psychometric properties for both scales in terms of validity and reliability. The results were then extracted using appropriate statistical methods for a one-sample t-test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, the Z-test, and the regression coefficient.
The researcher reached the following findings: that the sample members enjoy a high level of Agentic thinking and Mental toughness; that there exists a positive direct relationship between agentic thinking and mental toughness; that there are no statistically significant differences according to the two variables of gender (male, female) and specialization (scientific, humanistic) between agentic thinking and mental toughness; and that agentic thinking contributes positively to mental toughness.
In light of the research findings, the researcher arrived at a set of recommendations and suggestions…
