The relationship between spouse selection and certain spiritual variables and beliefs among female students in the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance

Abstract

 This research aimed to identify: the choice of a spouse among female students in the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance, and the significance of the difference in the choice of a spouse according to the variable of the spouse's age (older than me, close to my age, younger than me), the significance of the differences in the choice of a spouse among female students in the Counseling Department according to the variable of the educational level (literate, secondary, university), and the significance of the differences in the choice of a spouse among female students in the Counseling Department according to the variable of the economic level (weak, average, good). To achieve the research objectives, the researchers adopted the Buss (1998) Spouse Choice Scale, which consists of (19) items whose characteristics were confirmed. The scale was applied to a sample of (150) female students, who were chosen using stratified random methods. The research results showed that the individuals in the research sample had a choice of a spouse, and there were no differences in each of the variables of the spouse's age, educational level, or educational level. In light of the results, the researchers presented a number of recommendations and suggestions.
