Abstract

Ibn Tarawa is one of the most prominent Andalusian grammarists known for his opinions, criticisms of Arabic grammar and judgments. For his excessive knowledge, he is called “the professor”. It is noted in his grammatical objections that it emphasizes the functional aspect of language, as his judgments were not limited to the formal aspect of grammatical structures, but he was able to balance form and function to show the main task of language in human communication
