The Multi-Interpretations of Syntactic Structures in Quranic Exegesis

Abstract

This paper questions the role of syntax in the interpretation of the Quranic verses, as the Arabic grammatical traditions have contributed a lot to the understanding, interpretation, and uncovering the Quran meanings and references. These traditions are full of interpretations, accounts, grammars, treatises, and viewpoints which have addressed the grammatical, acceptable, and ungrammatical aspects of a single Quranic interpretation. An interpretation of any single Quranic verse, therefore, is subject to lexical, grammatical, intonation-related, contextual, and phonological considerations. Such irregularity has caused a noticeable variation in Quranic interpretation, recitation, and signification. It, also, caused differences in meaning or the semantic level.
